Citizenship

If you are an immigrant who intends to remain in the U.S. permanently, you may want to consider applying for U.S. citizenship.

Permanent residents are granted a green card that allows them to stay in the U.S., but without all the benefits of citizenship: they are not allowed to vote or hold public office. In addition, if a permanent resident violates certain criminal or immigration laws or is deemed to have abandoned U.S. residence, his or her green card can be taken away.

Usually, a person must hold a green card for a specified time period before applying for citizenship, but once granted, citizenship cannot be revoked in most cases.

The experienced attorneys at Marshall Law PC can advise you concerning the best immigration strategy for your situation. For more information, call our office at (619) 298-5778 today.
